Yolanda Vitolins

Yolanda Vitolins (1930-2006) arrived in the UK as a refugee from Latvia along with her father, a heart specialist, and her mother, a bio-chemist.

Yolanda gained a Certificate in Social Study in 1955 and went on to work at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital where she supervised subsequent students.

“She has made a most praiseworthy beginning in her determination to live an independent life here in face of all the difficulties with which a refugee has to contend”
