New Cambridge University Press E-Books Available

We have added to DiscoverEd, 304 new monographs and 113 new coursebooks from the following subject areas: American History, American Literature, Anthropology, Archaeology, Astronomy, British History, Classical Studies, Computer Science, Drama and Theatre, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Economics, Engineering, English Literature, European and World Literature, European History, Film, Media, Mass Communication, History Cross Discipline, History Other Regions, Language and Linguistics, Law, Life Sciences, Management, Mathematics, Medicine, Music, Philosophy, Physics, Politics and International Relations, Psychology, Religion, Sociology, Statistics and Probability.  Most of the e-books are published by Cambridge University Press but some of the monographs are also published by Edinburgh University Press, Boydell & Brewer and the ISEAS–Yusof Ishak Institute.

A list of the new titles can be found in this spreadsheet with the monographs on tab 1 and the coursebooks on tab 2.  Columns can be filtered by subject discipline.

This is the first batch of e-books to be loaded into DiscoverEd since Cambridge University Press launched Cambridge Core.  This new website replaces the separate websites they previously maintained for their e-journals, e-books, Cambridge Companions series, Cambridge Histories series, University Publishing Online.

During the summer we took out a subscription to Academic Video Online following a successful trial earlier this year.  A further 1,462 videos have been added across multiple subject areas.  Content is regularly added to this database.  See the full list of Academic Video Online content here.  Columns can be filtered by collection, subject or to highlight the new content only.  We will continue to add alerts about new content throughout the academic year.

RILM Abstracts of Music Literature with Full Text now available

We have upgraded our RILM Abstracts of music literature subscription to include full text.

RILM abstracts of music literature with full text (RAFT) expands and enhances the unrivalled global bibliography of writings on music with the addition of a million pages of full-text content from more than 200 key periodicals, many of which are not available anywhere else online. In addition to metadata, abstracts, and indexing curated and written by RILM’s team of subject experts, RAFT offers search and browse for each full-text issue, cover to cover.

Oxford Scholarship Online – new e-books

A further 197 e-books across a variety of subject disciplines have been added to Oxford Scholarship Online and these are now  available in DiscoverEd.

Sustainable Organization Library – more content added

We have updated our holdings to Sustainable Organization Library.  New e-journal and e-book content has been added to DiscoverEd.

New e-journal

The Journal of Sustainable Mobility (ISSN 2053-2350) is a new peer-reviewed journal that provides an interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of innovative and empirically sound research on sustainable transportation.  The Journal of Sustainable Mobility is published in association with Cranfield University, Nottingham Business School and The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

Sage Research Methods Update

We recently took out a subscription to the Datasets component of Sage Research Methods following a successful trial.

The datasets included in SAGE Research Methods Datasets are taken from government sources and academic research and demonstrate both qualitative and quantitative methods. Each dataset is presented with an easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide to best demonstrate how the method is applied.

These individual datasets have now been added to DiscoverEd following the Sage Research Methods platform change which involved replacing all of our existing records for the books, videos and case studies we already had a subscription to.

The new Sage Research Methods website has been fully redesigned to make it more modern and user friendly.  It is also fully responsive to the different kinds of mobile devices that may be used.  Sage have also improved the discoverability of content with an improved search and methods map.  Browse options have  been enhanced to allow browsing by discipline, content type and method topic.
