Pop-up Library is back for a limited time only in Innovative Learning Week (ILW) and we want you to say what you see!

Pop_up_lib_ILW_image_for_blogCombining two of our most popular Pop-up Library sessions from last semester you will get the opportunity to play our 1980s inspired game, learn how tagging and metadata can help your studies and get up close and personal with some highlights from the University’s Art Collections.

This time we are not limiting ourselves to the 1st floor of the Main Library and instead will be popping up in other locations.

 

Pop-up Library on tour!

On all 3 days items from the art collections will be on display, and you’ll be able to play the game between 12:30 – 14:30.  Please pop-up and see if you can achieve the highest score!

These are drop-in sessions and are open to all staff and students at the University.

Edinburgh College of Art library resources

There will be two ECA-related Pop Up Library sessions at the Main Library during Week 8 of Semester 1.

On Monday 3rd November from 2.00pm – 4.00pm Jane Furness and Margaret Redpath will be on hand to show everyone who visits the Pop Up Library desk some treasures from the ECA Artists’ Books collection. We will also be showing you how to search for Artists’ Books on the library catalogue and answering any questions you may have about Artists’ Books.

On Thursday 6th November from 10.00am – 12noon we will be on hand to talk about ECA Library resources more generally, including how to access e-resources for Art, Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, History of Art, and Music.

A chance to experience rarely seen paintings and objects from the University’s Art Collection

Recently we learned that the most searched for term on our brand new Art Collections website was ‘Male Nude’ – we’ve decided to go with the assumption that it’s all the Classics students taking their studies very seriously indeed…

But, in honour of all you weirdos out there, we’re giving you the chance to get up close and personal to the slightly racier side of the University’s Art Collection.

Anna and Jill will be around to talk to you about the items on view, how you can access the artworks yourselves, and also let you know about some of the brilliant volunteering opportunities available to anyone interested in curatorial or wider museum work.

So come along to the Art Collections Library Pop session tomorrow, we’ll be around from 10 until 3 in the 1st Floor reception area of the Main Library.
