The Library has two new E-resources Trials running following requests from staff in HCA, ProQuest Historical Newspapers: ABC (1903 – 2010) and Codices Vossiani Latini Online.
Trial access to both databases ends 11th February 2024. You can access these two databases via the E-resources Trials page.
ProQuest Historical Newspapers: ABC (1903 – 2010)
This is a brand new database from ProQuest that has only just become available.
ABC is a Spanish-language newspaper launched in 1903 and the oldest newspaper in Madrid. Known for contributions from numerous esteemed writers and intellectuals the newspaper also uses extensive photography and was the first European newspaper to use photo engravings. Politically, ABC is known for supporting the Spanish monarchy and for its conservative political views. This is an excellent resource for the research of Spanish history and perspectives.
Codices Vossiani Latini Online
The Codices Vossiani Latini Online publishes all 363 codices which form the world-famous Latin part of Vossius’ manuscript collection held at Leiden University Library. The Codices Vossiani Latini count a large number of early medieval manuscripts (a whopping 76 Carolingian manuscripts dating from before 900), including major sources of many classic texts. The 363 codices in all comprise 40,278 openings, resulting in 84,266 images, including covers and flyleaves.
You can access both databases via the E-resources trials page.
Trial access ends 11th February 2024.
Feedback welcome.
Please note, trial access to a resource is an opportunity for our staff and students to try a resource out and give feedback on its quality and usefulness. However, if we trial a resource this is not an indication that we plan to or will be able to purchase or subscribe to the resource in the near future.
