Thanks to a request from a member of staff the Library currently has trial access to the online Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Politics. This resource offers long-form overview articles written, peer-reviewed, and edited by leading scholars on a large and varied range of topics and subjects related to politics.

You can access the database via the E-resources trials page.
Access is available both on and off-campus.

Trial access ends 12th December 2017.

Updated regularly you can easily search the resource, browse by subfield or search within a subfield. It also gives you options to refine and sort your search results.

I’m pleased to let you know that the Library currently has extended trial access to World Politics Review from EBSCO, which provides up to date and extensive coverage of foreign policy, international politics and foreign affairs.

World Politics Review is a daily online publication for foreign policy issues. Articles for the Review are written by several hundred contributors from around the world, experts in a variety of disciplines. Observing the EU with the EUobserver

The Library has been given trial access to the independent online newspaper EUobserver. Launched in 2000 their aim is to support European democracy by giving people the information they need to hold the European Union (EU) establishment to account.

EUobserver is an independent, not-for-profit news organisation established in Brussels in 2000. Their team of  journalists file daily news reports from the EU capital and beyond and do in-depth investigations on topics of special interest. EUobserver is the only independent news media covering EU affairs in Brussels and all 28 member states. They are not funded by the EU institutions.

The database can be accessed for the duration of the trial period via e-resources trials.

ProQuest Congressional on trial

*The Library currently has access to ProQuest Congressional through the ProQuest Access 350 subscription until 31st July 2024. Access via the Databases A-Z list.*

The Library currently has trial access to the full range of digital collections for ProQuest Congressional. In addition to our existing Congressional Record access this provides access to the ‘Congressional Research Digital Collection’, or CRDC a collection of research materials – CRS Reports and Committee Prints – created for Congress. It also gives access to the ‘Congressional Hearings Digital Collection’, a collection of published and unpublished hearings held by Congress.

Following a request from staff in Politics & International Relations the Library has been able to secure trial access for a second time to News, Policy & Politics Magazine Archive from ProQuest. An archival collection comprising the backfiles of 15 major magazines (including the Newsweek archive), spanning areas including current events, international relations, and public policy.

Historical Statistics of the United States on trial

The Library currently has trial access to the Historical Statistics of the United States: Millennial Edition Online.

Historical_Statistics_United_StatesHistorical Statistics of the United States (HSUS) is a compendium of statistics about the United States and is the standard source for the quantitative facts of American history.

The Library already holds the print edition of Historical Statistics of the United States which you can find in DiscoverEd.

The online edition is fully searchable and has features that allow you to save search criteria, search within a chapter or volume, bookmark tables, view tables in PDF or HTML format, select certain years or series of years to view, create charts and graphs and much more.

Please note that during the trial period you will only be able to download and email tables, and view PDFs, in Part A: Population.

Studying American politics? Finding it hard to search for and locate the swathes of information being published by the US Federal Government? Voxgov may be for you.

The Library has set up trial access to Voxgov, a distinctive resource that pulls together the vast amount of US Federal Government information, communications and publications and allows you to easily search, discover, compare and get full text access to this material.

You can access Voxgov from the E-resources trials page on the Library website (or direct at https://www.voxgov.com). On-campus access is direct. For off-campus access you will need to use the VPN.
