New to the Library: IndiaStat

I’m pleased to let you know that following requests from students in SPS and a successful trial last year the Library has now subscribed to IndiaStat.

IF

Access is available through the Databases A-Z list or the South Asian Studies databases list. Access is available both on and off-campus with your EASE username and password.

Please note, once onto the site you must click the “Login” link at the top of page and click the “IP Login” option to get access. The site only allows 1 simultaneous user at a time so when you are finished please ensure you always click the “Logout” link at the top of page. If you don’t do this you may be preventing another user from getting access to the site.

IndiaStat provides India-specific socio-economic statistical facts and figures from various secondary level authentic sources. It includes 19 sector specific information e.g.  industry, education, health, banks and financial institutions, companies, co-operatives, crime and law, population, foreign trade, labour and workforce, housing, media, power, transport, urban-rural.

IndiaStat offers socio-economic information on 31 Indian states and union territories and provides comprehensive information on the 6 main geographical regions of India.

Data and statistics about India available on Indiastat.com can easily be downloaded in MS-Word/Excel/ HTML formats.

Access to IndiaStat is only available to current staff and students at University of Edinburgh.

Please remember to click the Login link and choose IP Login to get access. And it’s important that you remember to click the Logout link when you are finished.

    • Hi, unfortunately we had to cancel our subscription to IndiaStat a few years ago due to a price increase and lack of usage at the University. If you’re interested in it then do contact your Academic Support Librarian (http://edin.ac/2Nytbwj) to see if a trial might be possible. Thank you.
