Patrick Murray came across this rare, possibly unique item in the Longforgan Collection. Unusually, no bibliographic records were available from any other database so he created the record from scratch.

It contains key documents for the history of the Disruption of the Church of Scotland and the creation of the new Free Church – resolutions of the Convocation of Ministers passed on the 19th November, 1842, the pastoral address of the General Assembly of May 1845, the claim of right, the protest, and, The Act of separation and Deed of demission.

So far, we have not identified another copy anywhere else in the world.

Christine Love-Rodgers – Academic Support Librarian, Divinity

With thanks to Patrick Murray, Funk Projects Cataloguer
