Trial – Cambridge Archive Editions Online

CAE-bannerWe have trial access to Cambridge Archive Editions Online until the 20th February.

Cambridge Archive Editions Online is an extensive collection of historical archive materials on the modern political development of the Arabian Peninsula and the Persian Gulf, Russia and the Balkans, the Caucasus, Southeast Asia, and China and the Far East. The collection consists of over 1000 digitised books published by Cambridge University Press which can be accessed in full page images with searchable metadata. This resource is particularly rich for the study of boundary formation, claims and disputes.

Trial access to Gunsho Ruiju

We have trial access to Gunsho Ruiju until the 19th December.

Gunsho Ruiju is a collection of old Japanese books published from the ancient times to early Edo era. Subjects cover history, literature, religion, language, customs, art, music, cultivated arts, education, morality, legal codes, politics, economy, society and many other topics. Many textual sources are only available in this collection. This is an important primary resource for the study of classical Japanese culture.

The collection consists of three parts: Gunsho Ruiju, Zoku Gunsho Ruiju, and Zoku Zoku Gunsho Ruiju. The number of volumes for each part is as follows:

Gunsho Ruiju: 133 volumes, 1276 digitally compiled books and sources.
Zoku Gunsho Ruiju: 86 volumes, 2,128 digitally compiled books and sources.
Zoku Zoku Gunsho Ruiju: 17 volumes, 350 digitally compiled books and sources.

Loeb Classical Library Online – new e-book collection

loeb logoFollowing a very successful trial we have now subscribed to the Loeb Classical Library.

The Digital Loeb Classical Library contains more than 520 volumes of Latin, Greek and English texts aiming to be a virtual library of all that is important in Greek and Latin Literature, epic and lyric poetry, history, travel, philosophy and oratory, medical writers and mathematicians, and the Church Fathers who make particular use of pagan culture. Readers can browse, search, bookmark, annotate and use a Greek keyboard.

Access is available from our E-books A-Z lists as well as from several of our subject A-Z lists.  Individual records for each of the e-books will be made available in the new year once the publisher makes available catalogue records.

 

Trial – English Historical Documents

Web of Science – New KCI Korean Journal Database

kci-lrghdrFollowing last week’s upgrade to Web of Science, we now have access to the New KCI Korean Journal Database. The KCI Korean Journal Database is a searchable repository of literature from Korea and is available for selection listed on the drop down ‘Search’ list.

The KCI Korean Journal Database provides a comprehensive snapshot of the most influential regional content from researchers in South Korea. Using citation connections from the Web of Science™, regional work is framed within the broader context of global research.

Trial – British Newspaper Archive

The British Newspapers 1600-1950 is the most significant digital collection of British historic newspapers.
