Loeb Classical Library Online – new e-book collection

loeb logoFollowing a very successful trial we have now subscribed to the Loeb Classical Library.

The Digital Loeb Classical Library contains more than 520 volumes of Latin, Greek and English texts aiming to be a virtual library of all that is important in Greek and Latin Literature, epic and lyric poetry, history, travel, philosophy and oratory, medical writers and mathematicians, and the Church Fathers who make particular use of pagan culture. Readers can browse, search, bookmark, annotate and use a Greek keyboard.

Access is available from our E-books A-Z lists as well as from several of our subject A-Z lists.  Individual records for each of the e-books will be made available in the new year once the publisher makes available catalogue records.

 

Web of Science – New KCI Korean Journal Database

kci-lrghdrFollowing last week’s upgrade to Web of Science, we now have access to the New KCI Korean Journal Database. The KCI Korean Journal Database is a searchable repository of literature from Korea and is available for selection listed on the drop down ‘Search’ list.

The KCI Korean Journal Database provides a comprehensive snapshot of the most influential regional content from researchers in South Korea. Using citation connections from the Web of Science™, regional work is framed within the broader context of global research.

We have purchased a further 2 newspaper archives from ProQuest.ProQuest logo

The Irish Times (1859-2012) and The Weekly Irish Times (1876-1958)

Congressional Record – New Database

ProQuest logoWe have purchased the Congressional Record database from ProQuest.

ProQuest Congressional is a comprehensive online collection of primary source congressional publications and legislative research materials covering all topics, including government, current events, politics, economics, business, science and technology, international relations, social issues, finance, insurance, and medicine. Finding aid for congressional hearings, committee prints, committee reports and documents from 1970-present, and the daily Congressional Record from 1985-present. Compiled legislative histories from 1969-present.

The database has been added to our A-Z list and our History A-Z list and will appear on the catalogue soon.

We have increased our e-book holdings with the following providers.

We have added a further 44  titles to the Dawsonera platform.  A list of the new titles is available here and these have all been added to our catalogue.

EBL – Ebook Library

We have added a further 72  titles to the EBL platform.  A list of the new titles is available here and these have all been added to our catalogue.

Anatomy & Physiology Online – new e-resource

Anatomy & Physiology Online (Primal Pictures) has now been added to our A-Z list and will appear on our catalogue soon.  Anatomy & Physiology Online provides 20 interactive modules on human anatomy and physiology, with 3D images, animations, audio, text articles, case studies and quizzes.

 

SAGE Research Methods – new e-resource

We now subscribe to SAGE Research Methods.  This provides access to 700+ e-books, encyclopaedias, videos and journal articles.  SAGE Research Methods supports beginning and advanced researchers in every step of a research project, from writing a research question, choosing a method, gathering and analyzing data, to writing up and publishing the findings. With information on the full range of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods for the social and behavioral sciences, as well as many methods commonly used in the hard sciences, the book, reference, and journal content in SAGE Research Methods help researchers of all levels conduct their research.

A list of the individual e-books, reference works and videos can be accessed here and are in the process of being added to our catalogue.

SAGE Research Methods has been added to both our database A-Z list and e-books A-Z list.

Ecoinvent – new database

Ecoinvent has been added to our A-Z list of databases and catalogue.  Ecoinvent database version 3.1 offers science-based, industrial, international life cycle assessment (LCA) and life cycle management (LCM) data and services. ecoinvent logo

New E-Book Collections – August

We have recently purchased 3 new e-book collections.  The individual titles are in the process of being added to our catalogue but links to the collections are available from the e-book A-Z list.

Access Engineering provides access to over 200 engineering reference sources; 5,000 interactive graphs and downloadable tables and charts; personalization tools; instructional videos. Includes Perry’s Chemical Engineers Handbook, Marks Standard Handbook for Mechanical Engineers, Roark’s Formulas for Stress and Strain, Standard Handbook for Electrical Engineers.

 

Casalini e-books package

The Casalini full text platform (Torrossa) provides access to a selection of 1,867 scholarly e-books from Italian and Spanish academic publishers since 2000 for Edinburgh University Casalini logousers. The collection consists of 1,188 titles on Italian studies and Italian literature and 679 titles on Spanish studies. The books are in Italian or Spanish and can be either downloaded or viewed online in PDF format (it is necessary to disable pop-up blockers on your web browser and also in your Google tool bar if applicable). We now have access to the e-books published between 2002 and 2014 on the Wageningen Academic Publishers platform.  Main subject areas include Animal & Veterinary Science, Environmental  & Plant Science, Food Science and Social Science.
