Need help with using the Library? Help is available.

Having problems finding material from your reading list? Not sure how to reference or cite properly in your work? Need to work on a systematic review but not sure where to start? Or just want to know how to use Google and Google Scholar in an academic context?

The Academic Support Librarian team are running several courses this semester through IS Skills which you can book onto via MyEd. These (mostly) 1 hour sessions allow you to get expert advice and hands-on experience. So why not book on and become an expert yourself?

The following sessions are available (all are at Main Library unless otherwise noted):

Your reading list 14th October, 1-2pm
Your references: get it right first time 15th October, 12.30-1.30 (JCMB, King’s Buildings) and 11th November, 1-2pm
Study resources for literature reviews 16th October, 10am-12noon and 20th November, 10am-12noon
Managing the literature in a systematic review 21st October, 1-2.30pm and 18th November, 1-2.30pm
Finding theses 28th October, 1-2pm
Getting the best out of Google 4th November, 1-2pm
Library Resources in Chinese* 25th November, 1-2pm

* Please note, if you wish to attend this session you must have a reasonable understanding of the Chinese language and know how to enable the Chinese language keyboard.

Library Lolly Pop GreenIf you are unable to attend these sessions then you may be able to drop-in to some of the Pop-up Library sessions being held that also may help with your study and research.These are informal, drop-in sessions on 1st floor, Main Library.

Smart searching with Searcher 9th October, 15th October and 23rd October – all 10am-12noon
Finding/using Chinese library resources 6th October and 7th November – all 10am-12noon

Box of Broadcasts (BoB) 16th October 10am-12noon
Your references: get it right first time 17th October 10am-12noon
Help with literature reviews: Q&A session with a librarian 24th October 10am-12noon
Get the best from the Library 27th – 31st October – all 2-4pm

As well as practical help sessions there are also sessions giving unique opportunities to see Library collections, archival collections and museum collections from the University.
