New online resource for SPS: Media Education Foundation digital films

The Library has recently subscribed to the Media Education Foundation (MEF) digital films service via the Kanopy streaming service. MEF produce and provide documentary films and other educational resources to inspire critical thinking about the social, political, and cultural impact of American mass media. IF

From films about the commercialisation of childhood and the subtle, yet widespread, effects of pornography, pop-cultural misogyny and sexism, to titles that deal with the devastating effects of rapacious consumerism and the wars for oil that it drives, MEF aim to inspire students to think critically and in new ways about the hyper-mediated world around them.

You can access MEF digital films service via the Databases A-Z list on the Library website. Or via some of the Databases by subject pages such as Anthropology, Politics, Sociology, etc.

The Library only has a 1 year subscription to this service at present and access is only available to University of Edinburgh staff and students.
