Ancient commentators on Aristotle

The Library is in the process of obtaining the complete collection of these ancient Greek commentaries on Aristotle, which were originally gathered together and edited in the series Commentaria in Aristotelem Graeca (CAG). The 23 volumes in the series were first published by Reimer of Berlin between 1882 and 1909.

Alexander of AphrodisiasThe Ancient Commentators on Aristotle Project, directed by Professor Richard Sorabji of King’s College London’s Department of Philosophy, has now translated a large portion of the contents of the CAG, along with a wide range of related texts and fragments of more recently discovered commentaries.Philoponus

The bulk of the titles from the series are now available in the Library, mostly in print with some also in electronic format where this is available. A remaining few, yet to be published titles, will be added in the course of the summer. All are discoverable through DiscoverEd.
