Sharp in the Reproduction section of the IAPGR-ERS Report for 1986-1987, molecular geneticists and reproductive physiologists had begun work on a project \u2018cloning the chicken LHRH gene\u2026\u2019 in which the result was the \u2018molecular <a href=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/towardsdolly\/files\/2012\/08\/iapgrreport1987chickengeneclone.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-269\" title=\"IAPGRReport1987ChickenGeneClone\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/towardsdolly\/files\/2012\/08\/iapgrreport1987chickengeneclone.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"216\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/towardsdolly\/files\/2012\/08\/iapgrreport1987chickengeneclone.jpg 1885w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/towardsdolly\/files\/2012\/08\/iapgrreport1987chickengeneclone-300x216.jpg 300w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/towardsdolly\/files\/2012\/08\/iapgrreport1987chickengeneclone-1024x737.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/towardsdolly\/files\/2012\/08\/iapgrreport1987chickengeneclone-624x449.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>cloning of chicken prolactin.\u2019 It was hoped that the \u2018cloning of the chicken prolactin gene will make it possible to produce recombinant derived material for physiological studies and create opportunities for investigating immunopharmacological methods for the prevention of broodiness.\u2019 Evidently, \u2019knowledge of the nucleotide sequence of the gene made it possible to predict the amino acid sequence of this hormone which had not been previously established\u2019 and \u2018the predicted amino acid sequence has been used to generate this plot of the structure of chicken prolactin showing hydrophilic and hydrophobic regions.
