I’m happy to let you know that the Library currently has trial access to Mass Observation Project, 1981-2009<\/strong> from AM Digital, which allows you to explore the history of Britain through three turbulent decades, written by those living through it.<\/p>\n

Mass Observation Project, 1981-2009<\/strong> provides digital access to a unique life-writing archive, capturing the everyday experiences, thoughts and opinions of people living through the turbulent final decades of the 20th century and the advent of the 21st century.<\/p>\n

Launched in 1981 by the University of Sussex as a rebirth of the original 1937 Mass Observation, its founders’ aim was to document the social history of Britain by recruiting volunteers to write about their lives and opinions. Still growing, it is one of the most important sources available for qualitative social data in the UK.<\/p>\n

Mass Observation Project<\/strong> is made up of 3 modules covering the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, and we have access to all 3 during the trial.<\/p>\n

The Library already has access to Mass Observation Online<\/strong> the archives of the original Mass Observation project which was founded in 1937 and ran until the early 1950s. You can access this via our Digital Primary Source and Archive Collections guide<\/a>, or via DiscoverEd<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Please note, trial access to a resource is an opportunity for our staff and students to try a resource out and give\u00a0feedback<\/a>\u00a0on its quality and usefulness. However, if we trial a resource this is not an indication that we plan to or will be able to purchase or subscribe to the resource in the near future.<\/p>\n
