After being nationalized by President Nasser in 1960,\u00a0<i>Al-Ahram<\/i>\u00a0became the de facto voice of the Egyptian government and today the newspaper is managed by the Supreme Council of Press.<\/p>\n<div id=\"eastview-about-collection-text-more\">\n<p><i>Al-Ahram<\/i>\u00a0has featured writings by some of the most important political and literary voices of the day, including Nobel Literature Prize winner Naguib Mahfouz, nationalist leaders Mustafa Kamil and Saad Zaghlul, as well as Salama Moussa, Taha Hussein, Yusuf Idris, Edward Said, Hamid Dabashi, and Anis Mansour.<\/p>\n<p>You can access\u00a0the <strong>Al-Ahram Digital Archive<\/strong>\u00a0via\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/information-services\/library-museum-gallery\/finding-resources\/library-databases\/e-resources-trials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>\u00a0E-resources trials<\/strong><\/a>.<br \/>\nAccess is available on and off-campus.<br \/>\n<em>Trial access ends 1st October 2021.<\/em><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/information-services\/library-museum-gallery\/finding-resources\/library-databases\/e-resources-trial-feedback-form\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Feedback welcome<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Please note, trial access to a resource is an opportunity for our staff and students to try a resource out and give\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/information-services\/library-museum-gallery\/finding-resources\/library-databases\/e-resources-trial-feedback-form\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">feedback<\/a>\u00a0on its quality and usefulness.
