I’m pleased to let you know that the Library currently has trial access to ProQuest Recent Newspapers: The Guardian<\/strong>, a new resource that gives us full-text and full digitised images of The Guardian<\/em> newspaper from 2010 – recent (3-month embargo).<\/p>\n

You can access ProQuest Recent Newspapers: The Guardian<\/b>\u00a0from the E-resources trials page<\/strong><\/a>. Access is available on and off-campus.<\/p>\n

Trial access ends 1st December 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n

ProQuest Recent Newspapers: The Guardian\u00a0<\/b>is a new digital archive that offers full-page images of recent editions of the newspaper, from 2010 onwards (not including most recent 3 months due to embargo). For the first time this gives you cover to cover access to recent issues of The Guardian<\/em>. This includes all articles, images, photographs, adverts, classifieds, etc., which hasn’t been available before.<\/p>\n

You can access ProQuest Recent Newspapers: The Guardian<\/b>\u00a0from the E-resources trials page<\/strong><\/a>. Access is available on and off-campus.
\nTrial access ends 1st December 2019.

Note that the Library does already have access to historical content of The Guardian from ProQuest, The Guardian (1821-2003) and The Observer (1791-2003), ProQuest Historical Newspapers<\/strong>. You can also search and access full-text articles from The Guardian<\/em>, from around the 1980s-90s onwards, in databases such as Factiva<\/strong> or Nexis<\/strong>, though these are just text services, no digitised images of the newspapers, or photographs, advertisements, classifieds, etc., are included and some freelance articles are also not included. You can access both the historic newspaper content and current material from the Newspapers, magazines and other news sources guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Access is only available to current students and staff at University of Edinburgh.<\/p>\n
