Help your students find your lists

It’s great to see so many lists being published, and on such a variety of topics. We’ve been busy reviewing your resource lists and wanted to share a useful tip to help your students find your lists easily.

Setting your profile to ‘public’

If you are the ‘owner’ of a list, we would advise you to set your profile to be publicly visible. When this is the case, students can search for your name to find your lists, without being logged in to Resource Lists @ Edinburgh.

Your lists will also be visible if students search for you on Google.

Changing these settings is very easy to do:

  1. Sign in to Resource Lists @ Edinburgh
  2. Click on your name in the top right of the screen
  3. Select the blue ‘Edit profile’ link in the top right of the screen
  4. You can now change your privacy settings.

As always, please get in touch with us if you’re encountering any difficulties: library.learning@ed.ac.uk

Publish your Semester Two resource lists

Happy New Year from the Library Learning Services team!

Now that Semester Two is underway, we would like to remind you to publish your course resource lists.

Publishing your list

If you asked the Library to create the resource list, follow the link in the List publisher invite we sent you. Review your list, go to the ‘Edit’ menu and select ‘Publish’. If you can’t find the email check your junk mail folder, or get in touch and we’ll send the email invite again.

Rolled over lists

If you had a 2014/15 Semester Two list, it has been rolled over and there should be a 2015/16 version of the list. To review, edit and publish the 2015/16 version of your list:

  • Sign in to Resource Lists @ Edinburgh and go to ‘My Lists’.
  • Click on the 2014/15 list. There will be a pale blue note at the top of the list saying ‘A newer version of this list exists in draft form. Click here to review’.
  • Click to view the new 2015/16 draft list. Select the ‘Add to my Lists’ button on the top right of the screen.
  • You should now see a new 2015/16 version of your list in ‘My Lists’

All lists will remain in draft until you decide to publish.

Adding the resource list to LEARN.

When you have published your list, check it’s linked to a course code (if it is, there will be a course code in red in the top right of the screen). You can then use the Resource List tool on Learn or Moodle to link your course and your resource list. There’s a guide explaining how to do this: Adding the Resource List tool in Learn or Moodle (PDF)

Let us know if, for whatever reason, you don’t intend to publish your Semester Two list. We’ll update our records and stop emailing you!

Please feel free to get in touch with us if you need any help with your lists: library.learning@ed.ac.uk
