Some of the students realised that while their Notgeld needed a sense of place, they could improve on the world we have, and design for a better one.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Let us start by letting <strong>Naomi Sun<\/strong> lead us to the best of better places: Utopia:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">\u201cHere is UTOPIA.<br \/>\nA place for you to escape from the REAL.<br \/>\nYou can finally be YOU,<br \/>\nthough that will not be long.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">\u201cTickets are limited.<br \/>\nPlease collect your notes and use them wisely.\u201d<br \/>\nWe were particulary impressed with Naomi\u2019s work, as she was the only student to use etching to produce her notes.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-455 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/rarebooks\/files\/2019\/01\/Naomi-Sun-722x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"828\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/rarebooks\/files\/2019\/01\/Naomi-Sun-722x1024.jpg 722w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/rarebooks\/files\/2019\/01\/Naomi-Sun-212x300.jpg 212w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/rarebooks\/files\/2019\/01\/Naomi-Sun-768x1089.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sammi Duong<\/strong> looked to Space, and made a better world on Mars:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">\u201cThese banknotes are made for a future when we inhabit Mars and are named after the Mars Rover. The name of this country is Rabiland, I got the inspiration from Zootopia. These notes, issued by the capital city and carefully monitored by the nobility show parts of the country people are meant to look up to &#8211; the rich history and older civilization Ythers&#8217;Narth gets its name from and its people are descended from; the picturesque mountain ranges and fields of golden wheat; the immensely popular sky ship ports that people from all over the world fly to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-448 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/rarebooks\/files\/2019\/01\/Ni-Mogilevskaya-1024x880.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"502\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/rarebooks\/files\/2019\/01\/Ni-Mogilevskaya-1024x880.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/rarebooks\/files\/2019\/01\/Ni-Mogilevskaya-300x258.jpg 300w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/rarebooks\/files\/2019\/01\/Ni-Mogilevskaya-768x660.jpg 768w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/rarebooks\/files\/2019\/01\/Ni-Mogilevskaya-349x300.jpg 349w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The other exhibits some imagined lands &#8211; there are the examples from our collection of American comics, Batman, Spiderman and the irresistably-named \u201cMs. Tree\u201d, which we cannot reproduce here for copyright reasons.<\/p>\n<p>However, we can reproduce a fantasy creature, which would be worthy to inhabit any of the students\u2019 fantasy lands. A hippogriff, from Ludovico Ariosto\u2019s Orlando Furioso.
