Ancient commentators on Aristotle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-139\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/pplslibrarian\/files\/2016\/04\/Ancient-commentators-on-Aristotle.jpg\" alt=\"Ancient commentators on Aristotle\" width=\"948\" height=\"153\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/pplslibrarian\/files\/2016\/04\/Ancient-commentators-on-Aristotle.jpg 948w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/pplslibrarian\/files\/2016\/04\/Ancient-commentators-on-Aristotle-300x48.jpg 300w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/pplslibrarian\/files\/2016\/04\/Ancient-commentators-on-Aristotle-768x124.jpg 768w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/pplslibrarian\/files\/2016\/04\/Ancient-commentators-on-Aristotle-500x81.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 948px) 100vw, 948px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Library is in the process of obtaining the complete collection of these\u00a0ancient Greek commentaries on Aristotle, which were\u00a0originally\u00a0gathered together and edited in the series <em>Commentaria in Aristotelem Graeca (CAG)<\/em>.\u00a0The 23 volumes in the series were first published by Reimer of Berlin\u00a0between 1882 and 1909.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-138 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/pplslibrarian\/files\/2016\/04\/Alexander-of-Aphrodisias.jpg\" alt=\"Alexander of Aphrodisias\" width=\"150\" height=\"229\" \/>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kcl.ac.uk\/artshums\/depts\/philosophy\/research\/commentators\/index.aspx\">Ancient Commentators on Aristotle Project<\/a>, directed by Professor Richard Sorabji of King&#8217;s College London&#8217;s Department of Philosophy, has now translated a large portion of the contents of the CAG, along with a wide range of related texts and fragments of more recently discovered commentaries.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-137\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/pplslibrarian\/files\/2016\/04\/Philoponus.jpg\" alt=\"Philoponus\" width=\"134\" height=\"205\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The bulk of the titles from the series are now available in the Library, mostly in print with some also in electronic format where this is available. A remaining few, yet to be published titles, will be added in the course of the summer.
