{"id":150,"date":"2014-09-11T13:19:50","date_gmt":"2014-09-11T13:19:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/popuplibrary\/?p=150"},"modified":"2014-09-11T13:19:50","modified_gmt":"2014-09-11T13:19:50","slug":"metadata-games-at-librarypop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/popuplibrary\/2014\/09\/11\/metadata-games-at-librarypop\/","title":{"rendered":"Metadata Games at #Librarypop!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following on from last month\u2019s successful <a href=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/blog\/2014\/08\/29\/metadata-fun-and-games\/\">Metadata Games experiment<\/a>, we ran another two sessions during Fresher\u2019s Week as part of the Pop Up Library.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/popuplibrary\/files\/2014\/09\/DSC_3801.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-156\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/popuplibrary\/files\/2014\/09\/DSC_3801.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_3801\" width=\"3840\" height=\"2160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/popuplibrary\/files\/2014\/09\/DSC_3801.jpg 3840w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/popuplibrary\/files\/2014\/09\/DSC_3801-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/popuplibrary\/files\/2014\/09\/DSC_3801-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/popuplibrary\/files\/2014\/09\/DSC_3801-500x281.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 3840px) 100vw, 3840px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>More than 20 people, including 16 students, participated across the two days and a quite incredible 1,530 new tags were entered into our database.<\/p>\n<p>The volunteers assisted us by describing a selection of random images from our online database <a href=\"http:\/\/images.is.ed.ac.uk\">http:\/\/images.is.ed.ac.uk<\/a> and were awarded points for good tags that described the people, objects and places visible within the pictures. A live leaderboard was displayed on the big screen so participants could compare their progress against friends and colleagues; Scholarly Communications\u2019 Theo Andrew got the best individual staff score but new students Mara Carella, Mark Lundy and Siss Matz topped the student leaderboard.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/popuplibrary\/files\/2014\/09\/High-scores.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-154\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/popuplibrary\/files\/2014\/09\/High-scores.jpg\" alt=\"High scores\" width=\"828\" height=\"861\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/popuplibrary\/files\/2014\/09\/High-scores.jpg 828w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/popuplibrary\/files\/2014\/09\/High-scores-288x300.jpg 288w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 828px) 100vw, 828px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll be running the session again in October so there is still ample opportunity for anyone who hasn\u2019t played before to race up the leaderboard and claim the highest score!
