It is a time for the wider community to coordinate in taking action to make openness the default for research.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme of \u201cIt Matters How We Open Knowledge: Building Structural Equity\u201d aligns with the recently released\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.unesco.org\/science-sustainable-future\/open-science\/recommendation\">UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science<\/a>, of which Open Access is a crucial component.<\/p>\n<p>We will be publishing a series of blog posts to showcase the best of Open Access at the University of Edinburgh.
