New College Library B.r.438\/1<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u00a0This 1599 edition also inclues the new &#8220;Junius&#8221; version of the Book of Revelation, in which the notes were translated from a new Latin commentary by\u00a0Fransiscus Junius\u00a0on Revelation. It was the Bible used by John Knox and Oliver Cromwell, making it hugely important to the study of sixteenth and seventeenth century Britain.<\/p>\n<p>University of Edinburgh Edinburgh Divinity students on programmes such as the\u00a0Masters degree in\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/schools-departments\/divinity\/studying\/postgraduates\/postgraduate-taught\/theology-history\">Theology in History<\/a>\u00a0have the opportunity to handle rare books like this as part of their studies.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0This Bible is newly catalogued online as part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/schools-departments\/information-services\/services\/library-museum-gallery\/finding-resources\/subject-guides\/divinity\/news\">Funk Cataloguing Projects<\/a> at New College Library, which has enabled the cataloguing of\u00a0631 early Bibles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New College Library has rich and distinct Bible collections.
