I’ve been\u00a0following up from student feedback questions\u00a0 following library induction sessions\u00a0last week, and one\u00a0really interesting one\u00a0has been about library access to digital video recordings.<\/p>\n

The Library has recently purchased access to the large and comprehensive online streaming video resource Academic Video Online<\/strong><\/em> from Alexander Street Press. Containing over 50,000 recordings overall, it currently lists 324 videos on ‘Religion & Thought’ – and that’s just the start.<\/p>\n

Academic Video Online<\/strong><\/em> allows you to create and share playlists and create clips, permalinks are also available to embed or link to from other sites. Transcripts are available for many videos and these can be searched.<\/p>\n

You can access Academic Video Online<\/strong><\/em> from the A-Z list of databases<\/a> on the Library website or via DiscoverEd<\/span><\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The University of Edinburgh also subscribes to the Box of Broadcasts <\/a>service.<\/p>\n

BoB (Box of Broadcasts) enables all staff and students in subscribing institutions to choose and record any broadcast programme from 60+ TV and radio channels. The recorded programmes are then kept indefinitely (no expiry) and added to a growing media archive (currently at over 1 million programmes), with all content shared by users across all subscribing institutions. This means that you can access a range of programmes, from Songs of Praise<\/em> and the Vicar of Dibley<\/em>, to Thai Buddhism – Monks, Mercs and Women<\/em>, and Islam : The Untold Story<\/em>.<\/p>\n
