New College Library holds over 250,000 volumes, including rich and\u00a0unique Special Collections, making it one of the leading theological libraries in Britain.\u00a0<!--more--> In addition to the books there are online collections \u2013 electronic journals, electronic books and databases which the University subscribes to support your studies and research. As the Academic Support Librarian, my role is to help students get the most out of using the Library.\u00a0Welcome Week is a good opportunity to take a little time to get to know the Library \u2013 do this now and you\u2019ll be paid back later on in your studies.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s my top tips for\u00a0arriving students\u00a0to get to know New College Library:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a01. Come to the Library<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring your University card to get into New College Library<\/li>\n<li>From next week the Library is open 9am-6pm-10 Mon-Thurs, 9am-5pm Fridays,\u00a012noon \u2013 5pm on Saturdays. Remember that you can also use the Main Library which is open longer at weekends.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2. Take a tour<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I\u2019m running Library Tours on Wednesday 16th\u00a0for postgraduate students and on 22, 24 and 29 September at 1.15pm for\u00a0undergraduates \u2013 and anyone else who would like a tour.<\/li>\n<li>New College Library Guide leaflets\u00a0will be\u00a0available to pick up the Library<\/li>\n<li>Or take a look at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/information-services\/library-museum-gallery\/finding-resources\/subject-guides\/divinity\/newcoll-virtual-tour\" target=\"_blank\">Virtual Tour <\/a>of the Library<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3.
