Their challenge was to design a game which used at least three images from Open Educational Resource sites, one of which had to come from the CRC collection. The games also had to include at least three different game mechanics, be openly licensed and have a full set of rules.<\/p>\n<p>Our groups created four fantastic and diverse games and we filmed them explaining their games. One character is secretly a \u2018mole\u2019, whose sole purpose is to prevent the team from winning the game! The game features images from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/crcedinburgh\/17494034376\/in\/album-72157652634135705\/\">Anton Koberger\u2019s German bible<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/crcedinburgh\/17122888737\/in\/album-72157651800338299\/\">the seal of Robert the Bruce<\/a> and a decorated page from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/crcedinburgh\/16757270184\/in\/album-72157651968273168\/\">Hours of the Blessed Virgin Mary<\/a> from the CRC image collection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Game rules<\/strong>: <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/1TgeKbf\">bit.ly\/1TgeKbf<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Cultured Ai (Arts for Ai)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"604\" height=\"453\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Mm_DB3mfuqI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In this art-themed board game, players take control of larvae hunting for works of art in various locations across the University. The larvae are highly cultured beings and need inspiration from art works in order to stay alive! Players draw cards representing different types of art (e.g. painting, sculpture) and have to decide whether to play them immediately for in-game bonuses \/ penalties or retain them for scoring at the end of the game. The player with the highest art value at the end is the winner. <em>Cultured Ai (Arts for Ai) <\/em>uses CRC plans of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/crcedinburgh\/17342142786\/in\/album-72157651948594238\/\">McEwan Hall<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/crcedinburgh\/17180197748\/in\/album-72157651948594238\/\">Medical School<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/crcedinburgh\/17180087498\/in\/album-72157651948594238\/\">Glencoe Ballachulish<\/a> for the game board.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Game Rules<\/strong>: <a href=\"http:\/\/Bit.ly\/1mwFqGk\">Bit.ly\/1mwFqGk<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>\u00a0The Mouse Hunt<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"604\" height=\"453\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BqUXsvTQay4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In <em>The Mouse Hunt<\/em>, players compete in two teams vying for domination of an 18<sup>th<\/sup> century Edinburgh tenement! On one side, a team of mice attempts to drive the human inhabitants mad by digging tunnels and making a lot of noise. On the other side, humans set traps and try to rid the house of the rodent infestation!
