{"id":130,"date":"2016-05-20T14:38:36","date_gmt":"2016-05-20T14:38:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/jiscdatavault\/?p=130"},"modified":"2016-05-20T14:38:36","modified_gmt":"2016-05-20T14:38:36","slug":"datavault-presentation-and-poll","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/jiscdatavault\/2016\/05\/20\/datavault-presentation-and-poll\/","title":{"rendered":"DataVault presentation and poll"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The DataVault has been out and about recently: first to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dcc.ac.uk\/events\/idcc16\">International Digital Curation Conference (IDCC)<\/a> in Amsterdam in February, and more recently to the <a href=\"https:\/\/research-data-network.readme.io\/docs\/1st-research-data-network-meeting-university-of-cardiff-18th-may-2016-1\">first meeting of the new Jisc Research Data Network<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At both events we presented an overview of the DataVault project, followed by a live <a href=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/jiscdatavault\/demo\/\">demonstration<\/a>. \u00a0We then used the &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.polleverywhere.com\/\">Poll Anywhere<\/a>&#8216; audience participation system to facilitate feedback. \u00a0In particular we asked the following questions to the audience:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Did we present valid use cases for a Data Vault system?<\/li>\n<li>Do you see the need for a Data Vault iatyour institution?<\/li>\n<li>Do you think the Data Vault does enough &#8216;preservation&#8217;?<\/li>\n<li>Do you think the Data Vault is missing any obvious features?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Perhaps the most interesting piece of feedback was that at IDCC, which is an international conference, the feedback to question 2 (&#8220;Do you see the need for a Data Vault at your institution&#8221;), the response was 50% yes, and 50% no. \u00a0However at the Jisc event which only contained a UK audience, the response was 100% yes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/jiscdatavault\/files\/2016\/05\/DataVault-with-poll-results.pdf\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-132 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/jiscdatavault\/files\/2016\/05\/dvslide.png\" alt=\"dvslide\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/jiscdatavault\/files\/2016\/05\/dvslide.png 500w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/jiscdatavault\/files\/2016\/05\/dvslide-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The slides are available for <a href=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/jiscdatavault\/files\/2016\/05\/DataVault-with-poll-results.pdf\">download<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The DataVault has been out and about recently: first to the International Digital Curation Conference (IDCC) in Amsterdam in February, and more recently to the first meeting of the new Jisc Research Data Network.
