This archive is an important resource for the humanities and social sciences, especially in history, media studies, journalism, literature, cultural studies, politics, and theater. The collection is also a valuable resource for family history and genealogy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ProQuest Historical Newspapers: The Scotsman<\/strong> (extension module, 1950-2002)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4075\" src=\"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2025\/09\/ScotsmanArchive_screenshot-1024x337.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"192\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2025\/09\/ScotsmanArchive_screenshot-1024x337.png 1024w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2025\/09\/ScotsmanArchive_screenshot-300x99.png 300w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2025\/09\/ScotsmanArchive_screenshot-500x164.png 500w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2025\/09\/ScotsmanArchive_screenshot.png 1342w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While we&#8217;ve had access to <em>The Scotsman<\/em> archive for over 15 years, until earlier this year, the digital archive only covered the years 1817-1950. But an extension module covering the years 1950-2002 has now been released and the Library has been able to purchase this to ensure we have access to the complete archive* of our local newspaper.
