Thanks to a request from HCA staff the Library currently has trial access to Latin American Newspaers: Series 1<\/strong> from Readex, which allows you to explore Latin American history and culture during the 19th and 20th centuries.<\/p>\n

Covering the period 1805-1922 Latin American Newspapers<\/strong> features such key publications as La Nacion<\/em>, La Prensa<\/em> and Vanguardia<\/em> (Buenos Aires), Jornal do Commercio<\/em> (Rio de Janeiro), O Estado de S\u00e3o Paulo<\/em> (S\u00e3o Paulo), Mercurio<\/em> (Santiago), La Prensa<\/em> (Havana), El Guatemalteco<\/em> (Guatemala City), Daily Chronicle<\/em> (Georgetown, Guyana), La Revista de Yucatan<\/em> (Merida, Mexico), La Patria, Mexican Herald<\/em> and El Monitor Republicano<\/em> (Mexico City), El Dictamen<\/em> (Veracruz Llave, Mexico), La Estrella de Panama<\/em> and Star & Herald<\/em> (Panama City), El Peruano<\/em> and West Coast Leader<\/em> (Lima), Port of Spain Gazette<\/em> (Port of Spain), the Venezuelan Herald<\/em> (Caracas) and more than a dozen others.<\/p>\n

Through eyewitness reporting, editorials, legislative information, letters, poetry, advertisements, matrimony notices and obituaries, this unique collection chronicles the evolution of Latin American culture and daily life over two centuries. In addition, these newspapers provide a wide range of viewpoints from diverse cultures\u2014ideal for comparing and contrasting perspectives on issues and events.<\/p>\n
