Thanks to a request from a HCA student the Library currently has trial access to Early American Newspapers, Series 1<\/strong> from Readex, which offers fully searchable issues from over 730 invaluable American newspapers from the period 1690-1876.<\/p>\n

You can access the Early American Newspapers, Series 1<\/strong> via the E-resources trials page<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Trial access ends 14th April 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Focusing largely on the 18th and early 19th centuries, this online collection is based on Clarence S. Brigham\u2019s History and Bibliography of American Newspapers, 1690-1820<\/em> and other authoritative bibliographies. Providing unprecedented access to the nation\u2019s early periods, Early American Newspapers, Series 1<\/strong>,<\/em>\u00a0enables researchers to explore essential newspapers from 23 states and the District of Columbia.<\/p>\n

Note that the Library already has access to Early American Newspapers, Series 2<\/strong>. This can be accessed via our Newspapers, Magazines and Other News Sources<\/strong><\/a> guide or the Databases A-Z<\/strong><\/a> list. While the trial is running the two databases can be cross-searched at the same time.<\/p>\n
