I’m happy to let you know that following a request from a member of HCA<\/a> staff the Library\u00a0 now has a subscription to the digital primary resource Struggles for Freedom: Southern Africa (Aluka)<\/strong> from JSTOR. This extensive and fascinating resource contains 20,000 objects and 190,000 pages of documents and images documenting the liberation struggles in Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

You can access Struggles for Freedom: Southern Africa (Aluka)<\/strong> via the Databases A-Z list <\/a><\/strong>and the Digital primary source and archive collections guide<\/a>. <\/strong>You can also access it via DiscoverEd<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"Mainly covering the 20th century, Struggles for Freedom<\/strong> brings together materials from various archives and libraries throughout the world documenting colonial rule, dispersion of exiles, international intervention, and the worldwide networks that supported successive generations of resistance within the region.<\/p>\n

With 76 collections within the resource, documents include periodicals, nationalist publications, records of colonial government commissions, local newspaper reports, personal papers, correspondence, UN documents, out-of-print and other particularly relevant books, pamphlets, speeches, and interviews with those who participated in the struggles.<\/p>\n
