From British trade and history, to overseas expansion between the 16th and 18th centuries, <strong>Colonial State Papers<\/strong> provide a fascinating insight into the past.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2635\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2018\/11\/Colonial_State_Papers.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"564\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2018\/11\/Colonial_State_Papers.jpg 564w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2018\/11\/Colonial_State_Papers-300x181.jpg 300w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2018\/11\/Colonial_State_Papers-496x300.jpg 496w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 564px) 100vw, 564px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can access the database via the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/information-services\/library-museum-gallery\/finding-resources\/library-databases\/e-resources-trials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>E-resources trials<\/strong><\/a> page. Access is available both on and off-campus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trial access ends 19th December 2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Through collaboration with The National Archives, <strong>Colonial State Papers<\/strong> offers you access to over 7,000 hand-written documents and more than 40,000 bibliographic records and is an incredibly useful resource for anyone looking at Colonial History. In addition to Britain\u2019s colonial relations with the Americas and other European rivals for power, the Colonial State Papers also include coverage of the Caribbean and Atlantic world.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Colonial State Papers<\/strong> features two primary collections:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Collection from the National Archives (CO 1)<\/strong><br \/>\nThis collection represents thousands of papers that were presented to the Privy Council and the Board of Trade between 1574-1757, that relate to the governance of, and activities in, the American, Canadian and West Indian colonies of England.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Calendar of State Papers Colonial<\/strong><br \/>\nThis collection has an advanced bibliographic search tool providing over 40,000 records of bibliographic description for documents from many collections, including those of CO 1.
