See <a href=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/2019\/08\/02\/new-to-the-library-womens-magazine-archive\/\">New to the Library: Women&#8217;s Magazine Archive<\/a>.*<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to request from a student in HCA the Library currently has trial access to ProQuest\u2019s <strong>Women\u2019s Magazine Archive, collection I and II<\/strong>. This unique database comprises archival runs of leading women\u2019s consumer magazines of the twentieth century.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-445\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2016\/11\/womens-magazine-archive.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2016\/11\/womens-magazine-archive.jpg 600w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2016\/11\/womens-magazine-archive-300x175.jpg 300w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2016\/11\/womens-magazine-archive-500x292.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can access the database via the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/information-services\/library-museum-gallery\/finding-resources\/library-databases\/e-resources-trials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>E-resources trials<\/strong><\/a> page.<br \/>\nAccess is available on-campus. For off-campus access you must be connected to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/information-services\/computing\/desktop-personal\/vpn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">VPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trial access ends 14<sup>th<\/sup> November 2018.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Archival issues of consumer magazines\u00a0aimed at a female readership have previously been difficult to locate and navigate. So getting hold of these useful primary sources for 19th and 20th-century history and culture has been problematic for researchers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s Magazine Archive I and II<\/strong> provide access to the archives of some of the foremost titles of this type. The magazines are all scanned from cover to cover in high-resolution color, ensuring that the original print artefacts are faithfully reproduced and that valuable non-article items, such as advertisements, are included.<\/p>\n<p>Collection I titles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Better Homes &amp; Gardens <\/em>(1922-2005)<\/li>\n<li><em>Chatelaine <\/em>(1928-2005)<\/li>\n<li><em>Good Housekeeping<\/em> (1885-2005)<\/li>\n<li><em>Ladies\u2019 Home Journal <\/em>(1883-2005)<\/li>\n<li><em>Parents <\/em>(1926-2005)<\/li>\n<li><em>Redbook <\/em>(1903-2005)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Collection II titles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Cosmopolitan <\/em>(1886-2005)<\/li>\n<li><em>Essence <\/em>(1970-2005)<\/li>\n<li><em>Seventeen <\/em>(1944-2005)<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Town and Country <\/em>(1846-2005)<\/li>\n<li><em>Woman\u2019s Day <\/em>(1937-2005)<\/li>\n<li><em>Women\u2019s International Network News <\/em>(1975-2003)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Access <strong>Women\u2019s Magazine Archive<\/strong> via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/information-services\/library-museum-gallery\/finding-resources\/library-databases\/e-resources-trials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>e-resources trials<\/strong><\/a>. Access is available on-campus.
