This is the largest online database of Irish newspapers in the world covering nearly 300 years worth of history.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1660\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2018\/02\/Irish_Newspapers_Archive.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"263\" height=\"80\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can access the <strong>Irish Newspaper Archive<\/strong> via the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/information-services\/library-museum-gallery\/finding-resources\/library-databases\/databases-a-z\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Databases A-Z list<\/strong><\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/information-services\/library-museum-gallery\/finding-resources\/library-databases\/databases-subject-a-z\/database-newspapers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Newspapers and Magazines database list<\/strong><\/a>. You will soon also be able to access it via <a href=\"https:\/\/discovered.ed.ac.uk\/primo-explore\/search?vid=44UOE_VU2&amp;lang=en_US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DiscoverEd<\/a>. Access on-campus is direct but if you are working off-campus you will need to use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/information-services\/computing\/desktop-personal\/vpn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VPN<\/a> to get access.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Irish Newspaper Archive<\/strong> allows you to search and browse millions of newspaper articles from over 60 titles from the 18th century onwards. Including both regional and national titles it includes such newspapers as <em>Irish Independent<\/em>, <em>Irish Press<\/em>, <em>Kerryman<\/em>, <em>Freeman\u2019s Journal<\/em>, <em>The Nation<\/em> and <em>Finn\u2019s Leinster Journal<\/em>. Having access to the <strong>Irish Newspaper Archive<\/strong> both compliments and expands on the newspaper archives the Library already has access to. Access is available on-campus.
