Over 1 million pages of the newspaper\u2019s backfile, from its first issue to the end of 2000, can be searched or browsed and this includes issues of the Sunday Telegraph from 1961. The Library already subscribes to <strong>The Times Digital Archive (1785-2009)<\/strong> via the same provider and <strong>The Telegraph<\/strong> provides a valuable alternative voice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>British Newspapers Part V (1746-1950)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-166 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2016\/05\/19th_century_british_newspapers_logo.jpg\" alt=\"IF\" width=\"806\" height=\"100\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2016\/05\/19th_century_british_newspapers_logo.jpg 806w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2016\/05\/19th_century_british_newspapers_logo-300x37.jpg 300w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/hcalibrarian\/files\/2016\/05\/19th_century_british_newspapers_logo-500x62.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 806px) 100vw, 806px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Library already subscribes to parts I &#8211; IV of the <strong>British Library Newspapers<\/strong> series. <strong>Part V<\/strong> concentrates on titles from the northern part of the United Kingdom, doubling coverage in Scotland but also including new titles from the North and the Midlands. Part V includes the <em>Coventry Herald<\/em>, which features some of the earliest published writing of Mary Ann Evans (better known as George Eliot).<\/p>\n<p>Access via<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/information-services\/library-museum-gallery\/finding-resources\/library-databases\/e-resources-trials\" target=\"_blank\">e-resources trials<\/a><\/strong>.<br \/>\n<em>Access available until 10th June 2016.<\/em><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/information-services\/library-museum-gallery\/finding-resources\/library-databases\/e-resources-trial-feedback-form\" target=\"_blank\">Feedback welcome<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Library already subscribes to a large number of digital newspaper archives.
