The Library currently has trial access to two newspaper archives, The Telegraph Historical Archive (1855-2000)<\/strong><\/em> and British Newspapers Part V (1746-1950)<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

You can access both of these online archives via the E-resources trials<\/strong><\/a> page. Access is available both on and off-campus.<\/p>\n

Both trials end on 10th June 2016.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Telegraph Historical Archive (1855-2000)<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is a fully searchable archive of what was once the world’s largest selling newspaper. Over 1 million pages of the newspaper\u2019s backfile, from its first issue to the end of 2000, can be searched or browsed and this includes issues of the Sunday Telegraph from 1961. The Library already subscribes to The Times Digital Archive (1785-2009)<\/strong> via the same provider and The Telegraph<\/strong> provides a valuable alternative voice.<\/p>\n

British Newspapers Part V (1746-1950)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"IF\"<\/p>\n

The Library already subscribes to parts I – IV of the British Library Newspapers<\/strong> series. Part V<\/strong> concentrates on titles from the northern part of the United Kingdom, doubling coverage in Scotland but also including new titles from the North and the Midlands. Part V includes the Coventry Herald<\/em>, which features some of the earliest published writing of Mary Ann Evans (better known as George Eliot).<\/p>\n

The Library already subscribes to a large number of digital newspaper archives. These can be accessed on the Newspapers databases<\/strong><\/a> page, along with databases that give access to current newspapers.<\/p>\n

Access is only available to current students and staff at University of Edinburgh.<\/p>\n
