The original images and the transcriptions can be viewed side by side.\u00a0 Along with the letter collections themselves there are many additional features useful for teaching and research. These include:\u00a0 A chronology, a visual sources gallery, an interactive map, a glossary, family trees and links to other scholarly free to access digital resources useful for researching the medieval period.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/eresources\/files\/2015\/12\/CaptureMedTravWriting.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1460\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/eresources\/files\/2015\/12\/CaptureMedTravWriting.jpg\" alt=\"CaptureMedTravWriting\" width=\"1000\" height=\"690\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/eresources\/files\/2015\/12\/CaptureMedTravWriting.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/eresources\/files\/2015\/12\/CaptureMedTravWriting-300x207.jpg 300w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/eresources\/files\/2015\/12\/CaptureMedTravWriting-624x431.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ezproxy.is.ed.ac.uk\/login?url=http:\/\/www.medievaltravel.amdigital.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\">Medieval Travel Writing<\/a> &#8211; this project provides direct access to a widely scattered collection of original medieval manuscripts that describe travel &#8211; real and imaginary &#8211; in the Middle Ages.<\/p>\n<p>These sources tell us much about the attitudes and preconceptions of people across Europe in the medieval period, shedding light on issues of race, economics, trade, militarism, politics, literature and science.
