It has been a wonderful opportunity to get to know the breadth of the University\u2019s Collections and contribute to its online visibility.<\/p>\n<p>As a student of the (MA) Fine Art degree\u00a0 looking to start a career in the archive and museum sector, volunteering with the DIU has not only provided me with relevant work experience, but also enriched my visual and art historical knowledge by exposing me to an incredible variety of pictorial material.<\/p>\n<p>The collection has a number of beautiful images of old Edinburgh and it is remarkable to see how, in some ways, so little has changed in the city landscape.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/images.is.ed.ac.uk\/luna\/servlet\/detail\/UoEgal~5~5~58054~105342:Lawnmarket-and-High-Street,-Catalog?sort=Work_Creator_Details%2CWork_Shelfmark%2CWork_Source_Page_No%2CWork_Title\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-526\" alt=\"0014281d\" src=\"http:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/diu\/files\/2014\/02\/0014281d.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"989\" srcset=\"https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/diu\/files\/2014\/02\/0014281d.jpg 800w, https:\/\/libraryblogs.is.ed.ac.uk\/diu\/files\/2014\/02\/0014281d-242x300.jpg 242w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Glass-plate slides are such wonderful objects and these have incredibly vibrant colours.
