RTI also permits the mathematical enhancement of the subject\u2019s surface shape and color attributes. This was built <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\">and installed <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\">by <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\">Prof. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\">Kirk Martinez<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\">of <\/span><\/span><a class=\"Hyperlink SCXW87271709 BCX0\" href=\"https:\/\/custom-imaging.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span class=\"TextRun Underlined SCXW87271709 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\" data-ccp-charstyle=\"Hyperlink\">https:\/\/custom-imaging.co.uk\/<\/span><\/span><\/a><span class=\"TextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\">in the <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW87271709 BCX0\">MakerSpace<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\"> at the Main Library<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\">. that we have been able to start <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\">trialling the kit on some <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\">C<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\">ollections items<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\"> (and a few<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\"> bits and bobs from <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW87271709 BCX0\">outwith<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\"> the Collections)<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW87271709 BCX0\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">RTI suits flat-ish originals that have surface texture, up to A3-ish size, for example:<\/span><span Koberger, Biblia Germanica<\/a> from 1483,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">You can see how much fine detail is recovered by being able to control the lighting and rendering class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW175644368 BCX0\">visualise <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW175644368 BCX0\">fine details<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW175644368 BCX0\"> such as degradation of <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW175644368 BCX0\">paint or ink application, <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun AdvancedProofingIssueV2Themed SCXW175644368 BCX0\">and also<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW175644368 BCX0\">by highlighting areas of damage to folded papers etc.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW175644368 BCX0\" quick to do- from putting the item under the dome, to having a finished .ptm file is less than 10 minutes.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559739&quot;:0}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">One disadvantage for us, is that although the viewer is available freely, it can\u2019t currently be integrated with our image Collections Platform.
