It was last reviewed on 28th<\/strong><strong>\u00a0May 2024<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The website was last tested on 22nd May 2024. The testing was carried out by Heritage Collections at<\/strong><strong> the University of Edinburgh <\/strong>using manual methods. The site was tested on a PC, primarily using Microsoft Edge alongside Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.<\/p>\n<p>Recent world-wide usage levels survey for different screen readers and browsers shows that Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge are increasing in popularity and Google Chrome is now the favoured browser for screen readers:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/webaim.org\/projects\/screenreadersurvey9\/\">WebAIM: Screen Reader User Survey<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The aforementioned three browsers have been used in certain questions for reasons of breadth and variety.<\/p>\n<p>We ran automated testing using <a href=\"https:\/\/wave.webaim.org\/\">WAVE WebAIM<\/a> and then manual testing that included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spell check functionality;<\/li>\n<li>Scaling using different resolutions and reflow;<\/li>\n<li>Options to customise the interface (magnification, font, background colour, etc);<\/li>\n<li>Keyboard navigation and keyboard traps;<\/li>\n<li>Data validation;<\/li>\n<li>Warning of links opening in new tab or window;<\/li>\n<li>Information conveyed in the colour or sound only;<\/li>\n<li>Flashing, moving or scrolling text;<\/li>\n<li>Use with screen reading software (for example JAWS);<\/li>\n<li>Assistive software (TextHelp Read and Write, Windows Magnifier, ZoomText, Dragon Naturally Speaking, TalkBack and VoiceOver);<\/li>\n<li>Tooltips and text alternatives for any non-text content;<\/li>\n<li>Time limits;<\/li>\n<li>Compatibility with mobile accessibility functionality (Android and iOS).<\/li>\n<li>Any drag functionality and alternatives<\/li>\n<li>Consistent help function<\/li>\n<li>No need to re-enter data already submitted<\/li>\n<li>Any cognitive tests<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Change Log<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Images has alt text added from January 2018 onwards\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/WCAG22\/#text-alternatives\">1.1.
