Following on from my general tips for finding resources and navigating the online library<\/a>, this blog post will cover why you should check out Subject Guides<\/strong>, and highlights some resources, old and new, that you may not already know about for studies.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n When\u00a0you are looking for resources, remember not everything in the\u00a0Library\u00a0collection is on\u00a0DiscoverEd<\/a>, so it\u2019s best to check out your Subject Guide.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Subject\u00a0Guides<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0bring together all the most relevant library resources for a subject or topic.\u00a0These\u00a0<\/span>guides<\/span>, put together by Academic Support Librarians (ASLs), are always a good place to start when you\u2019re looking for resources. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Subject Guides\u00a0are not just course-specific, you can also find study and research tips, as well as\u00a0guides on topics relevant to us all, such as the\u00a0<\/span>climate crisis<\/strong>,<\/span><\/a> decolonising<\/strong><\/a> the curriculum <\/strong><\/a>and referencing and reference management<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span> So don\u2019t just head straight to your subject, have an explore! <\/span><\/p>\n I really recommend squirrelling yourself away for a while to explore the Digital primary source and archive collections<\/strong><\/a> – there is a whole world of amazing resources there. Even if these materials aren’t relevant to your studies, you can learn so much about history and society.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Here are some resources you might not already know about, as recommended by the ASL team.\u00a0These are just some ideas\u00a0to get you started and\u00a0to\u00a0inspire you to keep exploring the\u00a0Library!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Science & Engineering<\/a> Engineering\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Chemistry\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Biology\u00a0& Physics<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Informatics\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Geosciences<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span> Business<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n If you’re looking for peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings on all aspects of business studies then these 2 databases are highly recommended:<\/p>\n Divinity\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Economics\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) Moray House<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Health in Social Science\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n History\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Classics\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\nExplore: Resources you might not know about…<\/h1>\n
