One of our Funk Project cataloguers showed me this item The Fullness of Joy by Frances Ridley Havergal (Hymn 3926) this morning. After a humdrum week of working through variant editions of hymnbooks, this lovely illustrated volume really cheered him up! Since 2014 our Funk Project cataloguers have been working on New College Library’s Hymnology Collections of hymns, songs and sacred poetry and they’ve now catalogued nearly 4000 of the 5000+ items in the collection. Their attention to detail is providing an enhanced level of discoverability and accessibility for this collection, part of which was formed by James Thin, the well known Edinburgh bookseller.

Every item catalogued is retrieved from the shelf and, where appropriate, notes made on its binding, illustrations and provenance, to add to the research record. Volumes are re-shelfmarked as they are catalogued to improve security and findability, as previously these items did not have unique shelfmarks.
