Signing in to DiscoverEd before you start your seaching ensures you will have access to the full range of options within it and will ensure you are getting the full set of search results.
DiscoverEd can be accessed and searched on or off-campus, as long as you have an internet connection and a web browser.
However, we would recommend signing in to DiscoverEd before performing any searches. By signing in this will give you the option to request books that are on loan, access your Library account (My Account), request material from the Library Annexe, renew your books, check your due dates and fines, save items to your e-shelf and save searches. And, particularly if you are working off-campus, signing in ensures you get a full set of search results.
How do I sign in to DiscoverEd?
If you are a member of the University then click on UoE member at top right-hand side and sign in with your EASE username and password.
If you are an external borrower, SCONUL borrower or alumni borrower click on Non-members and sign in with your library barcode number and password.
Please note, if using DiscoverEd on the DiscoverEd Search Point PCs in the Main Library and library sites you cannot sign in and the search is limited to the Library’s physical collections including books, journals, audio-visual resources and other materials held in the Library. See Using DiscoverEd Search Points.
If you don’t know your password please contact the Helpline or speak to staff at a Library Helpdesk.
If you are working off-campus signing into DiscoverEd will also ensure that you get access to the full set of resources available via DiscoverEd.
Some of the resources in DiscoverEd are restricted by licence e.g. Web of Science (WoS), so you will only see results from these resources if you are working on-campus or if you are signed into DiscoverEd.
This only applies to those signing in as UoE members. For those library borrowers who sign in as “non-members” your access will still be limited as the licences restrict access to only University members.
