Sociology Source Ultimate now available

We have upgraded our SocIndex with Fulltext subscription to Sociology Source Ultimate.

Sociology Source Ultimate features more than 2.1 million records with subject headings from a 20,000+ term sociological thesaurus designed by subject experts and expert lexicographers. Sociology Source Ultimate contains full text for more than 1000 journals dating back to 1908. This database also includes full text for more than 1000 books and monographs, and full text for over 40,000 conference papers.  Sociology Source Ultimate features more than 26,000 author profiles covering the most cited and most influential authors in the database, who are experts in their field.  Coverage of topics ranges from gender identity, marriage and family, to demographics, political sociology, religion and socio-cultural anthropology.

RILM Abstracts of Music Literature with Full Text now available

We have upgraded our RILM Abstracts of music literature subscription to include full text.

RILM abstracts of music literature with full text (RAFT) expands and enhances the unrivalled global bibliography of writings on music with the addition of a million pages of full-text content from more than 200 key periodicals, many of which are not available anywhere else online. In addition to metadata, abstracts, and indexing curated and written by RILM’s team of subject experts, RAFT offers search and browse for each full-text issue, cover to cover.

Africa Wide Information – database trial

africa wide logoThe Library has set up trial access to Africa Wide Information (Ebsco) until 30th June.

Africa-Wide Information comprises an aggregation of 50 databases sourced from Africa, Europe and North America.  Africa-Wide provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary information which documents research and publications by Africans and about Africa.

Africa-Wide covers close to 4 million news articles,  scholarly publications articles, books, reports, theses, citations, and grey literature.  Records include article abstracts and some full text with keyword indexing to enhance relevant retrieval.  The coverage is comprehensive from the 18th century to current and dates back to the 16th century.  Africa-Wide Information is an essential resource for those with an interest in African research and publications and for those doing research in an African context, no matter the subject field.

Trial – Mental Measurements Yearbook

logoEhostWe have trial access to the Mental Measurements Yearbook until the 21st December.  The Mental Measurements Yearbook is a guide to over 3,000 contemporary testing instruments. Produced by the Buros Center for Testing at the University of Nebraska, entries contain descriptive information (e.g., test purpose, publisher, pricing, population, scores) and edited review(s). To be included, a test must be commercially available and published in the English language. 1938 onwards.

Trial access to PsycINFO and PsycARTICLEs via Ebsco platform

logoEhostWe have trial access to psycINFO and psycARTICLES via the Ebsco platform until the 21st December.  We currently have access to both of these databases via the Ovid platform, we are interested in gaining feedback on using these databases on the Ebsco platform.

PsycINFO – 1806 onwards. Abstracts, citations and controlled vocabulary for contents of approximately 2,500 journals publishing behavioural science and mental health.

PsycARTICLES – Full-text from APA journals (mostly volume 1 onwards) and related imprints. Indexed in PsycINFO.

Trial – RIPM

logoEhostWe have trial access to RIPM (Retrospective Index to Music Periodicals) on the EbscoHost platform until the 11th November.

RIPM offers a unique, searchable collection of complete full-text music journals not found in any library or any other online resource, spanning a period of some two hundred years, from C.P.E. Bach to Berg and Bartok, and from Schubert to Schoenberg and Stravinsky.
