Here’s an interesting question…how do you build accessibility into your digital preservation service?

I recently attended training on Equality Impact Assessments here at Edinburgh University to enable me to better understand our obligations, under the Equality Act, in the provision of our digital preservation service. The session was thoroughly enlightening and got me thinking much more deeply about how we ensure the methods that we use for discovery and interpretation of our digital assets don’t unfairly disadvantage those with disabilities.

I’m interested to hear anyone’s thoughts on this, and perhaps how they’ve approached the issue, provisions that they’ve made in their reading rooms, additional workflows or processes that they’ve created, tools used…any nuggets welcome. I’m happy to share findings to the wider community if permission is granted.
